Reflection: Student Led Inquiry Rosa Parks: Analyzing Multiple Points of View - Section 2: Teaching Strategy


For this section, I changed the plan on -the-spot to facilitate a more student-driven lesson.  I modeled how to think aloud for 1 fact.  Then, I gave scholars 3 minutes to jot down the "who, what, when, where, how and why" that they learned in the section.  Then, we rotated to the next table and "corrected" or "added to" a friend's graphic organizer using red or blue ink.  

This was a great way to get kids up and moving around.  Also, it helped the students to be the experts and provide one another with feedback and learn from one another.  It was a great change of pace!  If I were to teach the lesson again, I would definitely use this strategy.
