## Reflection: Modeling Determine Equivalent Ratios - Common Unit Rate - Section 1: Introduction

I'm glad we took time to discuss the unit rates of a rate, or that there are 2 unit rates per rate.  Is this recursive? Anyway, it was interesting to look at the differences between 2 inches of rainfall per hour vs 0.5 hours per inch of rain.  Either unit rate could be used to determine if the rates are proportional but they convey different meanings.  We then noticed that if a problem is asking for a particular rate like inches per hour, the order of the words tells you how to divide - inches divided by hours.  In later parts of the lesson students would still find the "wrong" unit rate.  We could fall back on this discussion as this occurred.
