Reflection: Intrinsic Motivation Biome Travel Agency - Section 5: Wrap Up: And the winner is...

If it were up to me, I may have awarded the winning vote to the temperate rainforest group, who thought way out of the box and created a travel "scrap book" of a trip to a small section of temperate rainforest in Spain rather than a brochure.  They included printed maps where they had outlined the route they had traveled in marker, multiple fliers they claimed to have pulled off of bulletin boards in the area, a mock receipt of their airfare costs, and diary entries describing their experiences in Spain.  When people visited their "booth", they weren't travel agents, they were just excited travelers trying to convince others to go on the life changing trip they'd just returned from.  It was a very interesting approach, but it didn't win.

Biome Travel Agency

Unit 5: Biomes
Lesson 6 of 7

Objective: Students will be able to research and organize information about a particular biome in a format that "sells" the biome as a vacation destination to an audience of teachers and students attending a mock travel convention.

Big Idea: Just knowing information usually isn't enough in the real world. To be successful, you need to present your case professionally and convincingly in an engaging manner appropriate to your audience.
