Reflection: Real World Applications Explain the Zoo Habitat- Create a Floor Plan, Prepare the Presentation - Section 5: Public Speaking Practice

This project provides an authentic opportunity for students to practice engaging with the public about a scientific topic of interest.  They have adhered to facts in developing their presentations and have done research into the needs of their animals and have a basic understanding of how to engineer a zoo habitat.  The next step in real life would be to present their plan to a target audience, so the opportunity to showcase their work and explain it to the community provides them with valuable social and language experience, as well as giving them a real scenario in which to engage in scientific dialogue with adults!
