Reflection: Backwards Planning Science Fair - Experimental Design I - Section 3: Students in Action

All of my students will be participating in a science fair. At our school students must prepare a science fair experiment and display independently. In order to prepare students for the science fair, we practice designing experiments. Some experimental designs are embedded in the curriculum other like this one are stand alone lessons designed for the specific purpose of building background knowledge so students are prepared to tackle the science fair projects on their own.

Students appreciate being able to work with a partner to design the experiment. They will be building confidence from experience.

Helping students build the skill sets needed for science fair by designing small tasks for practice will ensure that students are prepared for the future.
