Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Erosion Detectives - Section 2: Question for the Day

 

When I asked students to turn and share their ideas on the question, I quickly assessed that many students could not come up with descriptors for erosion evidence. Luckily I had taken pictures of possible erosion sites around school after a recent rain. I projected the images for students to view and discuss. Afterwards volunteers contributed 'evidence phrases for erosion, which I wrote on the board.

The images definitely supported students' ability to articulate how a site may show erosion.

My lesson: be prepared to elaborate and bring in the visuals and movement to support concept development.
