Reflection: Connection to Prior Knowledge Planting A Garden: Day 3 - Section 4: Explain

 

Looking back at this lesson, I should have had the students connect the steps to the seeds getting the things they need to start to grow and produce a plant.  We studied the seed earlier and conducted a plant experiment to discover what a plant needs for survival.  As the students are planting, they are covering with soil and watering.  The next time I teach this lesson, I will have them connect to why we are doing these things and who does it help the plant/seed?

Objective: SWBAT plant pumpkin and kale seeds in the school garden.

Big Idea: Today the students will learn how to appropriately plant seeds in a garden. They will learn about seed depth, spacing, and covering as they plant the two crops.
