Reflection: Modeling Planting A Garden: Day 2 - Section 4: Explain

 

By having the students create a diagram, they are in a sense creating a model that requires them to draw and label the parts.  In this case, I am asking them to do this to review the plant parts.  The students are also explaining the need for soil and water.  It is important that students understand that plants need to have access to the needs that keep them alive and allow them to grow.

Unit 5: The Plant System and the School Garden
Lesson 12 of 15

Objective: SWBAT appropriately plant basil starts in the school garden.

Big Idea: Today the students will head into the garden and plant basil starts. They will review the plant parts and learn about the importance of planting the starts with the right depth and spacing.
