Reflection: Lesson Planning Animal Adaptations, Their Best Defense Day 2 - Section 3: Guided practice

 

Learning how to conduct basic research, and then knowing when to use what you have learned is an acquired skill. I planned this lesson in a way that would enable my students to have compiled enough information to write an essay. If I had just told them to go to a specific site, or just search the internet, they would have struggled however, by using the organizer, and just one site to find the information, they were able to build on their knowledge base and tackle a more difficult task, writing an argument and cite reasons. Some students were more adept at putting all of the facts together in a cohesive manner, but all of the students were able to research effectively and feel successful.
