Reflection: Backwards Planning Interactions Within Earth's Atmosphere - Section 4: Connecting the Learning

Students successfully used analogies in a previous lesson to help them make sense of an remember the function of cell organelle.

I am using that strategy again here via the TED-ED video comparing the connections of feedback loops to the game of Tetris. My students all know about the Tetris game but few have heard of feedback loops.

Before they begin the Sources, Sinks, and Feedbacks activity, I wanted to explore the new idea as a class. Watching the movie and answering questions helped prepare my students with the background knowledge they needed to understand how positive feedback loops impact our changing climate.

Interactions Within Earth's Atmosphere

Unit 11: Weather
Lesson 3 of 6

Objective: SWBAT explore and analyze real-world data to explain the interaction of Earth's surface and atmosphere, warming caused by greenhouse gasses and changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere over time.
