Reflection: Performance Tasks Let Them Know! - Section 2: Mini Lesson

This lesson may not be very "scientific", but we know that the science and engineering practice 8       (Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information) is critical in the growth of scientific thinkers.

The students needed to use their creativity to pull together their research information, organize it in a way that would inspire people, and match photos and music to their message. (That was the hope anyway!)

Obviously, they need more time and structure, but today allowed them to communicate their knowledge in a creative way with a purpose.  In future lessons, we will work on creating a PSA that focuses on:

1. What is the problem?

2. Why is it important?

3. How can the audience help?

Remember, making communication real world is more rigorous than any paper-pencil test. Give it a try.
