Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Flipping For Meiosis - Section 4: Independent Practice - Flip Book Fun


This activity reinforces the stages of mitosis, but also encourages students create drawn models.  Most importantly the students need to narrate what occurs at each stage and how that contributes to the differentiation of the cell types.  Once the flip book is created the students will use it to review and study for upcoming assessments.  The strategy to create documents/manipulatives so students can use at a later date is a win-win for student learning!

Unit 6: Cell Division
Lesson 3 of 4

Objective: SWBAT narrate the stages of meiosis and develop a detailed explanation of how the process of meiosis is responsible for creating new genetic variations.

Big Idea: Students will "flip" once they create their meiosis flip book that will help explain why they do not look identical to their siblings!
