Reflection: Student Feedback Mrs. Glaze Gets Grumpy! - Section 5: Reflection & Closure

Self and peer evaluation aren't the only assessment tasks that I ask my students to engage in.  At the end of each 6 week cycle, when progress reports or report cards are due - I ask my students to reflect on 3 things:  The climate of the classroom, my instruction, and the curriculum.

Some of my very best learning experiences have come because my students pointed out a specific need.  Their feedback has led me to discard instructional practices that weren't effective, to continue to refine those that students felt were helpful to them, and to better advocate for them with my district when the curriculum was not responsive to their needs.  I have found that when I have explained the process, my students give great feedback.  I always appreciate the time and care they take to inform my instruction - and I let them know that it makes an impact.
