Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Building Vocabulary - Section 4: Explain

 

While I was checking in with groups (during the vocabulary task), one student described how he figured out the meaning of his word by using his knowledge of another.  I asked him to share his thinking and use of critical thinking skills with the class.  I wanted the student to see how he used his knowledge of one word to define another.

Unit 4: Sound and Light Waves
Lesson 12 of 20

Objective: SWBAT develop definitions of the words transparent, translucent, reflective, and opaque.

Big Idea: To kick off this light unit, the students will be introduced to some new unit words and then go on an exploration walk to find objects that match the definition of each new term.
