Reflection: Rigor Designing a Solar Car Part 2 - Section 2: Research Questions

I like to give the students the opportunity to write their own questions based upon their individual curiosities. Unfortunately, the questions they come up with can sometimes be hard to research. I work with the groups as we develop questions. Groups of students write questions and I project the questions on a shared document for all to see. We analyze the questions to determine the best way to research. Frequently the question will change based upon our discussion. It works out well because I put in my content questions so I know they will be researching the content necessary for the design.

Designing a Solar Car Part 2

Unit 9: Designing for the Future: Designing a Solar Car
Lesson 2 of 7

Objective: SWBAT conduct research in an effort to determine the best design for a solar car.

Big Idea: What do we need to know? Students develop research questions to learn more about the design of solar cars. They conduct the research and use it to inform their design decisions.
