Reflection: Gradual Release Designing Crayfish Habitats - Section 1: Introduction

Teaching students strategies for finding information online effectively takes time, but it's a critical literacy.  Early in the year, I give explicit lessons on domains (.com, .org, .net) and demonstrate how simple it is to upload incorrect information.  There are times when I direct my students to certain website, such as when the reading level of whatever they find will be too high to make sense of, but in this case, finding what crayfish eat is a perfect time to practice selecting keywords and finding information independently.
