Why use video in the classroom?

It's a media generation. The learners, call iGeneration, learn through media, have their own cell phones, and have never known a world without computers and cell phones. It's what they know. It's how they learn.

When using video (media) in the classroom use short clips. This creates enthusiasm for the learning. Video clips help students retain more information and make new connections.

Video clips are used to:

  • illustrate one particular point.
  • show an experiment or procedure.
  • reach students with a variety of learning levels.
  • provide a common learning experience.
  • use new vocabulary as a result of a video or video clip.
