Reflection: Student Grouping Volcanoes - Helpful or Harmful? Prove it! - Section 3: Explore

For this lesson, I am going to pair up students with a distinct purpose of effective collaboration. Many times we use partners that they children have chosen themselves.  Normally this type of grouping is very effective.  But since this is a difficult task that involves reading of text and scanning for information, writing and reasoning, I want to make sure I have one higher achieving student with one who perhaps has difficulty reading texts or writing.  I pair students up so it can be mutually beneficial.  Many of my high thinkers are not necessarily my most effective writers. This peer collaboration will benefit both types of students.
