Reflection: Student Ownership Electric Potential Energy - Introduction - Section 1: Student Demonstration


These demonstrations are fairly casual. Students take five to ten minutes to demonstrate their phenomenon, providing an explanation along the way. The focus is on the role that charges play in making the phenomenon happen. Other students will ask questions and generally be attentive to the proceedings. The assessment of these demonstrations is equally casual - I simply record a small participation grade. As much as possible, I want the focus on the culture of making contributions to class and I want anxiety about grading to be minimized. I find that students welcome this change and are happy to locate, prepare, and share their demonstrations.
