Reflection: Writing Across the Disciplines Presenting and Learning From Media - Section 4: Sharing and Learning from our YAKiTs

Using YAKiTs as a teaching strategy worked beautifully.  The children were so excited to make their YAKiTs!  They worked diligently to fill out their planning sheets which contained lots of information about their landform.  They were doing hard work and learning in the process.  When they actually created their YAKiT, they were practicing using technology to present their learned information in a creative and exciting way.  Then as each of the YAKiTs were presented, the children listened so intently to the YAKiT.  They were so respectful to each other, not nearly as silly as I anticipated they might be.  All the while, they hardly even realized all of the learning that was taking place.  I saw the children who had made the YAKiT burst with pride, which is a great confidence boost, too.  This was so much more fun than a traditional vocabulary lesson!
