Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Mira Mira The Amazing Mira - Section 4: What Is My Evidence?

This lesson made me realize again that my students don't always perceive science and math the same. Most students thought that when I talked about connecting reflection to math, that I was talking about numbers. They weren't thinking about geometry. I clarified to help, but some students were even on lower levels of understanding the concept of reflection. I have to respect these levels of thinking. At this age, it safely occurs  in my classroom because of the community I have built. Their conceptual understanding can be worked with cooperatively and they support one another's learning.
