Reflection: Lesson Planning Using Movies VS Watching Movies: The Origins of Birds - Section 1: Warm-Up

If you want something that is less discussion based to allow you to better assess individual student learning, you may consider using the Form - Function of Bird Feet worksheet.  This allows you to model during a discussion of form - function of bird beaks and allow students to work individually as they analyze bird feet. If you do this, it is important that you circulate and ask students to explain their thinking. This forces (in a nice way) students to refine their thinking so that they can express it - and that often can help them to better their understanding.
