Reflection: Students with Disabilities Compound Machines - Section 2: Explore

When students are given a task of making observations and taking independent notes, they are often lost in the process, not knowing what's important enough to write down. By providing them with some scaffolding and support in the note-taking process, they are able to be independent and successful in completing the task.

Based on the two student samples, explore sample A and explore sample B, you can see how the table has helped the students to identify each of the simple machines within the complex machine and also to identify the function of each simple machine within.  By having them number their responses, they were able to link the two boxes (function and machine) together.
