Reflection: Student Grouping Designing an Eco-friendly Building Part 3 - Section 3: Communicating the Design

I have grouped students between 2-4 people. Students groups work together to discuss the attributes of the designs. Many of the designs look the same but there are frequently subtle differences. I explain, "You can choose one person's design and decide to build and test it. You can also use a feature of more than one design and redraw it to test it. Finally you can decided if you don't like any of the ideas and you can work together to make a new design."

Designing an Eco-friendly Building Part 3

Unit 6: Designing for the Future: Eco Friendly Building
Lesson 3 of 10

Objective: SWBAT use scientific knowledge to explain how their design is eco-friendly.

Big Idea: The fun starts here. Students have lots of cool information about eco-friendly building systems and products. In this lesson, students begin to design a floor plan, thinking about the best way to solve the design problem.
