Reflection: Backwards Planning Heat Through Burning! - Section 4: Wrap Up


After teaching this lesson, I have decided that in the future it may be best to assist students more when sorting the pictures from the picture splash. Having the students sort on their own, allowed them to come up with a lot more reasonable sorts; for example a sort was created that identified objects that can keep things warm. This sort was a great sort however it was not the sort that I intended for the students to make. It will be beneficial to set guidelines or parameters for this portion of the lesson.

Objective: Students will be able to identify objects that produce heat through burning.

Big Idea: Students will be able to classify objects that have common attributes using a comparison circle. They will analyze the relationships of the objects to determine that they all produce heat through burning.
