Reflection: Journaling Build A Paper Tower Challenge (Part 4)--Testing our Towers - Section 3: Exploring--Testing Our Towers

This entire discussion about consistency was very helpful.  The children made solid suggestions on how we should do this investigation.  Having a student come up and model the wind test was very helpful to make sure we were all consistent.

Also letting the children make some decisions about the testing proved to be beneficial.  They felt like it was their investigation and really "bought" into it.  I was a bit surprised how engaged they were in the conversation.

As they tested their towers, I saw most trying to be very consistent.

Build A Paper Tower Challenge (Part 4)--Testing our Towers

Unit 5: Building Towers and the Engineering Design Process
Lesson 14 of 16

Objective: SWBAT test the tower they have built to identify its strengths and weaknesses. They will analyze the results in order to propose improvements.

Big Idea: We can test our tower to find out its strengths and weaknesses so we can then improve on our design.
