Reflection: Intervention and Extension pH - Flipped (Day 2) - Section 2: Explore

 

The Alien Juice Bar activity fits well with this pH lab.  It serves as reinforcement of the lab and provides students with an opportunity for extra practice.  Additionally, in some cases, I use this activity as a replacement for the pH lab.  For instance, if a student is absent during the lab and does not return to school before the cabbage juice gets smelly, I have the student complete the Alien Juice Bar instead.

Unit 2: Chemistry
Lesson 14 of 19

Objective: SWBAT list the pH of every day household items by conducting pH testing using cabbage juice.

Big Idea: In this lesson students use cabbage juice to test the pH of various liquids and then double check their work using pH probeware.
