Reflection: Complex Tasks Forecasting Sales and Calculating Revenue - Day 1 of 2 - Section 1: Launch and Explore

 

In my class, students came up with three possibilities for the price matrix. I put these on the board and together we hypothesized about why each student would set up their matrix in this way. For matrix #3, it made sense that the matrix would have the same dimensions as the sales data matrix. For #1 and #2, students understood that we might have just one column or one row since the price would not change.

At this point I had them play around on their graphing calculator to see if they could get any matrix multiplication combination to give them the correct revenue from question #3 on the task  worksheet.
