Reflection: Real World Applications Creating a Menu Using Rounding and Estimation Skills: Enrichment or Whole Class - Section 3: The Product ( Homework)

I think this was one of my best creative lessons so far this year! Students produced awesome menus on Haiku Deck and Educreations. It was really fun and a great extension and support of MP4 while practicing more rounding/estimating skills in a different way. Mad Grace's was material for a sitcom! A Dessert Menu Sample has the word "dessert" spelled incorrectly and this gave me opportunity to work on impressing the importance of spelling correctly in real world situations.

We had a discussion the next day to wrap up our thoughts. They were very insightful for me. They told me that they can now tell the difference between a fast food restaurant and a better quality restaurant by looking at the prices on the menu. They mentioned that they had no trouble figuring out that the menu would be easy to estimate for their customer because of the rounded digits. Reflections of students gave me some insight about their thinking and learning during this project.
