Reflection: Flexibility Physical Properties of Rocks - Section 3: Activity

To manage three groups where one group needs most of my attention is challenging in any subject! However, science lends itself to student driven inquiry so in this lesson I provided lots of choices in the other two centers. The choices are high interest - lots of rocks to choose from, books on lots of reading levels with interesting pictures, and the freedom to look at whichever you want. Then, to make sure my students are actually working and learning while I am away from them, in one center I included the recording sheet about one of the rocks. The high interest choices keep them on task and even though I am not next to them I can check and make sure that they continued to learn about the properties of rocks!
