Reflection: Checks for Understanding Magnificent Moon - Section 2: Engage

In looking at the students' creation of the moon, I noticed that students had prior knowledge of the moon. Several of the students drew craters in their images. Therefore, I asked them what form craters and the students knew rock caused craters. One student colored the moon yellow and I asked her "why". She stated that sometimes the moon shines brightly. When the student made this statement, I knew that the students saw a full moon. This activity was beneficial for students and me.
