Reflection: Conferencing Following the Research Plan - Section 3: Explore

During the class time that students are working on their research papers, I make time to meet with each of them individually to discuss their progress on the research paper and to discuss their overall project ideas.  When I meet with students, I begin by asking them to tell me both their scientific question and their hypothesis.  I then ask them to provide evidence for their hypothesis.  At this point, some of them may not have performed enough research to be able to provide substantial evidence for their hypothesis.  If they are lacking evidence, I suggest areas on which they should focus their research.  I also spend this time answering any questions they may have about the project.
