Reflection: Real World Applications Ramp It Up! - Section 5: Elaborate

 

As a whole, the class struggled connecting the idea of energy creating speed.  They knew the fast hill had to be steep and most either drew the slow hill being either flatter or shorter than the fast hill.  

As students turned in their entries, I discussed their ideas and asked them to elaborate on their thinking (verbally).  This allowed me to see who understood it and jet couldn't explain it on paper and who just didn't understand the connection.

Objective: SWBAT make a hypothesis and draw a conclusion on which of two ramps will cause a car to roll the fastest.

Big Idea: As your class continues to learn the different parts of the scientific process, students will be engaged in an experiment that requires them to make a hypothesis, record results and draw a conclusion from their results.
