Reflection: Performance Tasks Chemistry Lab Practical - Mystery Liquids - Section 1: Background

This is one of my students' favorite tests/assessments of the year.  After telling them about the assessment, they look forward to taking it and ask on a regular basis when they will be able to complete it.  This assessment encompasses a variety of chemistry related tasks as well as incorporating scientific investigation.  This practical can also be modified in a variety of ways to meet the needs of various students at various grade levels.  While I use this lab practical in my regular education classroom, students from a self-contained special education classroom also come in and participate in this laboratory experience.
