Reflection: Adjustments to Practice Classifying Animals - Section 1: Teacher Notes

The photos of animals that I put together were on the small side.  I thought that they would be big enough, and since there were several on a page I would not having to print as many.  However, I realized as my children were doing this activity that they had difficulty in observing the visual characteristics since the photos were so tiny.  It makes sense, if I want them to observe the small details, I must provide them with an adequate resource in which to do so.  This lesson was very insightful and helpful so I wanted to keep it as is, but to tweak it a bit.  So I revised my resource of animal photos to be quite a bit larger.

If printing colored photos are an issue at your school, you might want to consider making the student groups larger or perhaps print off less pages.  I have included the smaller photos, in case you are still interested in that particular size.
