Reflection: Data Analysis Submitting Essays Digitally and All That It Entails, Day 1 of 2 - Section 3: Brief Tutorial on Typing a Standard Paper

The brief Google Docs tutorial was effective. Students who ended up using Google Docs managed more than well. Unfortunately, not too many students were able to use it.

The brief typing tutorial initially appeared less effective. Although students did not ask many questions, they seemed a little perplexed. Later, I realized the reason was that it was difficult to imagine formatting a paper when there is no computer in front of you. Once they got on the computers and opened Microsoft Word, they were doing exactly what I had suggested, which was to search around for the terms I mentioned, "align" and "line spacing," for example. Students figured it out mostly on their own.
