Reflection: Intervention and Extension The Periodic Table - Flipped - Section 3: Explore


I have found that using online activities is a great motivator for students in addition to being a great way to reinforce material covered in class and provide me with an opportunity to check in with individual students.  During this lesson I use technology to provide a means through which to achieve extension and intervention.  Online activities provide students with the opportunity to work independently at their own pace.  While the students are working, I am able to meet with individuals to help them better understand a concept or idea.  This one on one time is valuable and can sometimes be difficult to come by.  I am always careful to include extension ideas and activities for my students who breeze through the initial material.  These students enjoy being challenged for the most part, but it is important for me to remember to include supports for them and to check in on them throughout the lesson as well.
