Reflection: ELL Students Arthropods are Awesome! - Section 3: Exploration

Within my classroom, I have students with strengths in lots of different areas including speaking, drawing, and writing, as well as intrapersonal thinking. To facilitate so many different modes of expression, during this lesson I try to engage students in lots of activities including working in whole group, small groups, and individually. Students have the option to speak, listen, read independently, and work with a partner or small group. To show what they know, students can draw diagrams, write the information on the Fact Sheet, and create a model of the arthropods. This works well with ELL students as well as other students who just need alternative ways to express their learning besides writing. Watch the video to hear about some of the different outcomes of student work.
