Reflection: Developing a Conceptual Understanding Historical Context Support - Section 3: Guided Practice - Part 1

It is important for the students to begin understanding the historical implications in the story as they cannot truly understand it without this. This particular informational text provides a pretty straightforward description upon which the students may begin truly building their conceptual understanding. Historical context is an area I find kids tend to struggle with and resist until it finally clicks for them that it makes the reading so much easier and more enjoyable. In the meantime, I continue to reinforce this as often as I am able for them.
