Reflection: Relevance Part Three - Data Collecting for Soda Cup Lander Instruments - Section 1: NGSS Connections and Lesson Preparation

I chose to designate the scientific instrument models because I wanted students to focus on the data they would gather: which instruments to select for the the SCL and how to best arrange  these instruments to the SCL so that the system still descends, land and ascends.

I also provided more 'instruments' than what would be allowed on the SCL to devise a situation where students would be required to discuss with their team the possible merits of the different instruments and its relevancy to the SCL mission.

Part Three - Data Collecting for Soda Cup Lander Instruments

Unit 3: Unit 3 - Deep Ocean to Rocky Shore Adaptations and Submersible Designs
Lesson 6 of 12

Objective: SWBAT choose submersible instruments based observations and soda cup lander design constraints.

Big Idea: Engineers collect data on which submersible instruments to include on their soda cup lander.
