Reflection: Routines and Procedures Features of Fish! - Section 3: Activity

 

Scaffolding instruction to support various levels of readers, writers, artists, and independent workers is tough but feasible by providing materials that meet a student on their academic level. A lot of the websites and books I found about fish were really complex and had too much detail. I knew if I presented that to my students, some of them would be really overwhelmed and not understand the material, which could lead to frustration. Instead, I created my own fact cards that I used which worked really well. Listen as a Student Reads about Swordfish by referencing and reading his fact card...and he is considered to be a beginning reader!! Watch and listen as I explain building independence.
