Reflection: Gradual Release Shapes and Ramps - Section 4: Explain

At then end of this unit, and in future units, the students are/will be asked to design an experiment and execute it.  In order to do this, the students must understand all of the parts of designing and executing an experiment.  Throughout this unit I introduce different parts, in isolation, to scaffold the teaching of the components of scientific process.

Unit 2: Force and Motion
Lesson 6 of 15

Objective: SWBAT draw conclusions, through their investigation, about the easiness that different types of items can descend down a ramp. SWBAT discuss what makes a test "fair."

Big Idea: Using a variety of items, students will work in groups and release a items down an incline and record their observations. They will then apply their learning to a real life scenario.
