Reflection: Complex Tasks How Much Will College Cost in the Future? - Section 3: Share

 

Some students in my class were having a difficult time realizing that exponents are needed in this problem and that it was not a linear relationship. I set up this table when we had our class discussion so that students could see the structure of this relationship. It was clear to students that we were just multiplying the previous year's cost by 1.075 to get the next year's cost.
