Reflection: Checks for Understanding The Nerve of Stem Cells! Day 2 - Section 3: Evaluate

In assessing students understanding of nervous system development, I learned that I needed to be flexible enough to accept various representations of this process when grading via the rubric. Students were creatively distinguished in their physical interpretations and in their verbal explanations of the entire process and it was remarkable to witness them present this information is such varied ways. It is however only fair to keep this in mind so that students are not discouraged from piquing at success via their creativity and are also not limited in the belief that their is only one correct model of neuro-genesis and tissue development. Science is as science does!

The Nerve of Stem Cells! Day 2

Unit 4: Brain Specialization and Development
Lesson 2 of 5

Objective: Students will model the process of nerve specialization and nervous system development from the stage of embryonic stem cells to early infancy.

Big Idea: Nerve tissue's form and function are determined by internal and external factors affecting stem cells.
