Reflection: Checks for Understanding Getting Food to The Cells (1) - Section 2: Hook

I decided to start with this piece because on the last assessment only 36% of the students were proficient with this task.  I knew they had some misconceptions but couldn't figure out what they were.  What is great about having them order items in a group is your hear them defend their answers and you can be ready to drop in and clear up a misconception.

Today the students were confused about atoms, they thought they were about the same size as cells.  They also didn't understand the word organism.  In reflection, this had not been one of our vocab words and probably needed to be.  Once I cleared up those items, the students whizzed through this task.  I will be interested to see how the data is on the question on the next test.
