Reflection: ELL Students Mr. Putter & Tabby Pour the Tea Day 2 of 3 - Section 4: Whole Group Interactive Recounting

I work to provide different techniques to help my students develop a conceptual understanding of what I am teaching them. That is part of the reason I included the Narrative Lecture Notes technique. I decided to create a large template of it because my students benefit much from visuals and in this way I can provide a visual representation of what is happening in the story. Yes, we read the story with text dependent questions but in doing providing them with this interactive recounting, I gave them another opportunity to hear the information and digest to make sense of it. My students benefit from repetition because in this way they build academic language.

I will continue to use techniques that enhance their learning.
