Reflection: Staircase of Complexity Analyzing how Complex Characters Change and Develop in “The Birthmark” - Section 3: Student Learning Activity

 

The majority of my students read the text and were able to analyze the characters with minimal prompting because of the adapted version and graphic organizers.  A few students still had difficulty reading independently without my constant prompting. I wasn't sure how much of their resistance was due to difficulty in comprehension or just a lack of interest in the story.  I will investigate their reasons as the year progresses...
