Reflection: Grappling with Complexity Teaching is Learning, Organizing and Presenting, Day 3 - Section 3: Active Engagement

 

In total, I stayed with these girls for three minutes.  In that time, I was able to justify their research, guide them in analyzing and applying information, using resources to confirm facts, and prompt them to create a logical plan for their presentation, while helping them to persist in grappling with the "why" of today's science.  

It is so important to stay with students and really listen in.  Using the right term or drawing the correct illustration is not evidence of understanding.  As you can see, within just three minutes there was much understanding and application that would not have happened had I not hung around.
