Reflection: Diverse Entry Points What's So Important About the Amazon Rain Forest? - Section 5: Our Independent Work

The resource I showed you called, "Common Words in Writing Responses" has been such a big help to me this year.  As busy teachers, we get pulled in many directions, and its sometimes hard to plan meaningful tasks for the varying abilities in our rooms.  This resource has helped me to think about the different skill sets my students could be working on (such as comparing and contrasting, drawing conclusions, identifying a problem, etc.) as they are completing their written work.  Once I became comfortable using the resource, it really only took me a few minutes to differentiate the work for my students.  Not only was I able to differentiate the work, I also zoned in on what literacy skills that my students were having trouble with.  They could be working on this skill as they completed their independent work.  I hope you find this resource as valuable as I have this year.
