Reflection: Checks for Understanding Cells: Membrane and Nucleus Part 1 - Section 7: Independent Practice

I was really excited today because these concepts were very difficult and yet the students did FANTASTIC on the clicker quiz.  Over 80% in both of my classes scored proficient on the basic information.  While this does not let me know whether they understand it at a high level yet, I am very confident that they understand that the cell membrane is made up of fats and proteins and its main function.  I think the piece of instruction that was the most beneficial to this was the simulation.  The students were very compliant about writing the notes and now have that resource in their notebooks, but it was when we started to play with the PhET simulation that they really understood how the proteins were functioning as gates and channels.
